Questions people ask
Can I crop or rotate before compressing?
Yes — each image has a rotate and a crop button. Cropping away the parts you do not need is usually the biggest single saving available, well before you touch the quality slider.
How small should I go?
For a website or an email, 70–80% quality usually looks identical and cuts the size by more than half. Below about 50% you start to see blotches around text and sharp edges.
Why did my PNG get bigger?
PNG is lossless, so re-encoding a photo as PNG can grow it. For photographs use JPG or WebP; keep PNG for logos, screenshots and anything with transparency.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. It is decoded and re-encoded by your own browser, so it never leaves the device. That is also why it works with no limit on how many you do.
